Plein Air
When you paint ’in the air’ you have to capture the scene quickly. The light changes, the wind moves in, a cloud moves the shadows. Or the cat lying in the sun suddenly walks away! It’s a challenge and makes me work loosely to capture the ‘essence’ of the scene. It is immediate, solitary and meditative.
I work in watercolour on site.

The cat that moved!
